United Way of Acadiana

United Way fights for the health, education, and financial stability of every person in every community.

We are more than the fundraisers. We are the hand raisers. The game changers.

We surround a community’s most critical problems and we fight. In order to live better, we must LIVE UNITED.

United Way envisions a world where all individuals and families achieve their human potential through education, income stability, and healthy lives.

We focus on Earnings with programs from free tax-prep to financial savings education and coaching. We focus on Essentials by responding to crises from hurricanes to floods by providing basic needs and partnering with local organizations that reach the community in need. We focus on Education with goals that aim to see at least 90 percent of students graduate high school on time and United Way Readers who make a difference in early-grade literacy.

We win by LIVING UNITED. By forging unlikely partnerships. By finding new solutions to old problems. By mobilizing the best resources. And by inspiring individuals to join the fight against their community’s most daunting social crises.

Victory Addiction Recovery Center

Why Victory ?

Victory Addiction Recovery Center is dedicated to providing our community with affordable, quality treatment. Our licensed staff has decades of experience and strives to deliver exceptional treatment for our clients and their families. In our healing culture, we restore dignity and self-worth by providing the skills necessary for lasting recovery, restoring quality of life for yourself and those you love.

Our facility was completely renovated in 2012 and provides a spacious, open floor plan for both inpatient and outpatient settings. Our comprehensive substance abuse treatment program aims to heal clients holistically by combining group, individual and family counseling sessions. We couple our counseling with education and the traditional 12-steps. Because we know addiction affects the entire family unit, Victory will not just treat the individual but will also help family members address their struggles. Ultimately, some of the unique features that set Victory apart from other treatment centers in the area are our licensed staff and a mind/body/spirit approach to recovery.

Our Professionals Program offers services to those in their respective fields struggling with substance use.

Finally, Victory is dedicated to helping improve the community we live and work in, by offering a variety of support groups and educational workshops. We have also partnered with local universities to provide training for future nurses, counselors and therapists. The Victory Community Forum Series brings in guest speakers on a variety of topics aimed to educate and empower all who attend

VOA of GBR Lafayette

Volunteers of America is the charity that always steps forward to help the most vulnerable. For over 121 years, we have taken on the most difficult tasks to help the most underserved.

At Volunteers of America, we are more than a nonprofit organization. We are a ministry of service that includes nearly 16,000 paid, professional employees dedicated to helping those in need rebuild their lives and reach their full potential.

Through our hundreds of human service programs, including housing and healthcare, Volunteers of America touches the lives of more than 1.4 million people in over 400 communities in 46 states as well as the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico each year. Since 1896, we have supported and empowered America’s most vulnerable groups, including veterans, at-risk youth, the frail elderly, men and women returning from prison, homeless individuals and families, people with disabilities, and those recovering from addictions. Our work touches the mind, body, heart — and ultimately the spirit — of those we serve, integrating our deep compassion with highly effective programs and services.

Approximately 60,000 volunteers throughout the country help our employees deliver these life-changing services.

Our Name

The name Volunteers of America was selected when the organization was founded 121 years ago. It signified that the organization was comprised of people voluntarily choosing to help others. In those days, a volunteer was anyone who was committed to a mission or cause. Since its earliest days, when Volunteers of America brought food, medicine and comfort to people not served by other charities, volunteering has been instrumental in every aspect of the organization’s ministry of service.

Today, our services are delivered through a partnership of professional staff, volunteers and other community supporters.
