Optima Specialty Hospital

Optima Specialty Hospital is a 24-bed hospital that is designed to treat adults aged 18 and above who have psychiatric disorders, who are at risk for harming themselves or others, and/or who are experiencing a severe impairment in functioning due their symptoms.

Optima Specialty Hospital is staffed with skilled and compassionate mental health professionals who have specific expertise in the treatment of individuals who are experiencing mental, emotional, cognitive, and behavioral problems that are related to mental illness. Individuals who receive care at Optima will participate in a variety of therapeutic activities as part of a comprehensive treatment plan that has been designed to meet their specific needs. Depending upon each patient’s specific strengths and needs, care may include individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy, and medication management services.

Treatment at Optima Specialty Hospital may be provided on an inpatient basis or via our partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient (IOP) options. Depending upon the type and level of care that a patient is receiving, he or she may be in treatment from seven days to six weeks, with this length of stay able to be adjusted based upon the unique needs of the individual who is receiving care.

• Supporting parents and families through the challenges that are inherent to parenting a child with special needs.
• Striving to enrich each child’s experience through the use of developmental activities that are fun, educational, and therapeutic.
• Promoting each child’s growth in reaching their highest potential.

Monday through Friday 7:30am-5:00pm

Transportation Provided. PediaKare provides transportation accompanied by qualified staff.

Acadiana Area Human Services District

The mission of the Acadiana Area Human Services District (AAHSD) is to increase public awareness of and to provide access for individuals with behavioral health and developmental disabilities to integrated community based services while promoting wellness, recovery and independence through education and the choice of a broad range of programmatic and community resources. To this end, a comprehensive system of care is offered which provides research-based prevention, early intervention, treatment and recovery support services to citizens of Acadia, Evangeline, Iberia, Lafayette, St. Landry, St. Martin and Vermilion parishes, directly and through community collaborations.
