Men’s Emergency Shelter: First come, first serve homeless shelter providing men a safe place to sleep, to shower, have dinner, a place to wash their clothing, and breakfast to start their day. Check-in for the evening begins at 3:00 pm. Men are asked to line up at a designated spot at this time so the lodge personnel can receive them. A current state issued I.D., social security card, and change of clothing is required. *Men in the Back to Work Program are guaranteed a bed.
Back to Work Program for Men: The Salvation Army offers shelter and a path to a new life through the Back to Work program, a housing program that helps homeless men get their lives on the right track. During this six month program the men are provided reliable shelter, beds are reserved for the participants so they can work and know they have a bed to sleep in each night. Participants are required to attend a series of Bible classes and Celebrate Recovery meetings during the first 30 days and save 50% of their gross salary. Home Bank, Iberia and Teche Bank work with program participants to open the savings accounts. Many Back to Work participants are from Acadiana and they often return to their families upon graduating from the program.
Community Dinner: Every day our soup kitchen (at the men’s shelter) provides a warm meal to those hungry in our community; men, women, and children. We feed an average of 100 people a day. The meals are healthy and prepared 365 days a year.
