Community Resource in Acadia
The mission of the Acadia Family Resource Center is to strengthen families and to improve the quality of life through education, support, and community awareness. The goals are: to provide education to individuals, families, community, and to strengthen, support, and preserve the family; to increase public awareness of the needs of families in the community and, the resources available to the community; to encourage volunteerism throughout the community, in order to meet the needs of children and families; and to foster a sense of community among service providers in the parish in order to ensure a full use of available services. Other services include: used school uniforms with a referral from a school or local agency, referrals for utility bills, food stamps and clothing. Blood pressure checks for the elderly once a month and “Angel on a Tree” Christmas program through schools and Wal-Mart for needy children. Additionally, The Resource Center had a Lending Library with books, videos and pamphlets on health, parenting and disciplining issues; offers parenting classes and clothing.Call 337-334-4537 (HELP)
